(Kitchener, ON, Canada – July 29, 2015)  Clearpath Robotics is proud to welcome Mike Hanuschik as their new Chief Product Officer. Hanuschik will lead product strategy, product management, design and branding for Clearpath.

Proven track record

Hanuschik brings extensive experience from his fourteen year tenure at Intuitive Surgical where he led the design and product management of the daVinci Surgical System. daVinci is a sophisticated surgical robotics platform that offers a state-of-the-art, minimally invasive option for major surgery. It is used worldwide to perform over 500,000 procedures per year.

“Mike has a proven track record of building world-class teams and developing complex robot systems that are well adopted,” said Matt Rendall, Clearpath’s CEO and Co-Founder. “He is an inspiring leader who knows how to create and execute an ambitious vision.  We couldn’t be more excited to have him join our executive team.”

A pivot to self-driving vehicles

In early 2015, Hanuschik facilitated a user-centered design workshop with the Clearpath leadership team. Through this introduction, Hanuschik immediately recognized Clearpath’s unique culture.

“The first thing that stands out about Clearpath is the people. When you walk around the company, there’s a palpable sense of excitement about the work they are doing and it shows in the quality of the products they create. They clearly know how to have fun yet maintain high standards of craftsmanship and a heightened sense of urgency.”

Hanuschik also recognized Clearpath’s large market opportunity and strong competency in robotics, autonomous mapping, and navigation. “Self-driving vehicles are on the cusp of a huge breakthrough and I am thrilled to be part of a group that is well-poised to pursue this opportunity. The impact self-driving vehicles will have on the world is going to be incredible. It is a vast frontier to explore and I can’t wait to see where it will take us,” said Hanuschik.

Clearpath expands to the valley

In addition to his new role as Chief Product Officer, Hanuschik will establish and grow Clearpath’s Silicon Valley Product Design office.

Founded in 2009, Clearpath has grown to 80 people and plans to grow to 120 employees by the end of the year. The Silicon Valley office will allow Clearpath to access the Bay Area’s incredible talent pool to help fuel this growth.

“The Clearpath executive team is committed to excellence in all facets of the organization. They have made a space for inspired work to happen which is essential for passionate development teams to deliver their best work. I’m looking forward to contributing to the efforts at Clearpath on our quest to develop products that have meaningful impact and lasting value,” said Hanuschik.
